Justine Monique

ABOUT THE ARTIST

It’s always been about chasing the next challenge and enjoying the process! Be it drawing, dancing, painting or ceramics - Justine has always been known to get lost in one creative medium or another. Although, it was her juggling skills that won her 6th grade acceptance into the art school. Yes, this included rubber chickens, slight of hand color changing rings, and bouncy balls! It was in those middle school classrooms where she traded in her cursive for calligraphy and play dough for clay - setting the stage years later for all those college art classes that accidently turned into a minor in fine arts.

Although she’ll often be found in her own little world focusing on the latest project - teaching her craft has captured her attention as well. Drawing and painting was her focus with students through her business Vancouver Art Classes where she taught out of coffee shops and in the park on nice days. When she moved to Portland Oregon, she found her home in a small mindful community at Elemental Studios. She worked alongside owner Casey to invite students to pursue mindfulness in their art practice while learning the basics of ceramics.

These days, when she doesn’t have her fingers in the mud, paint on her cheek, or charcoal in her hand Justine enjoys being on trail or climbing with her partner and friends.
